Horse skulls aren’t as rare a find as all that.
During the dark days of the housing crash, before they re-opened the slaughterhouses, people would simply leave horses to fend for themselves. Whatever you may think about slaughtering horses, I personally think it’s far more humane to kill them quickly and not waste them than to let them starve or be torn apart by coyotes.
I found two skeletons on my Kentucky farm–sans heads. I found Daisy’s head two pastures over. I haven’t found Dobbin’s head yet.
